For solvers
Solving
Open a hunt and answer the first clue. Each right answer shows Correct! and reveals the next clue. Case, accents and punctuation don't matter.
Every guess is checked in your browser by trying to decrypt the stage. The site never sees your guesses, how many you made, or how far you got. Each check takes about half a second on purpose: that's the cost that makes guessing the prize offline expensive.
Your progress is kept in this browser tab, so reloading won't lose it. Closing the tab will.
Images, video and links
Some clues come with media. It's decrypted in your browser as soon as you reach that clue. Your browser downloads every file of the hunt when the page opens, still locked, so nobody can tell how far you've got from what you download. Links in clues open in a new tab; that site can see your visit, so only click the ones you need.
Claiming
The final answer unlocks the prize. You have two options:
- Claim the prize. Paste a fresh shielded testnet address from your wallet (it starts
with
utest1). The signer sends the whole pot to you in one shielded transaction. It usually takes under a minute; it arrives after a few confirmations. - Sweep it yourself. Show the seed phrase, restore it in any Zcash testnet wallet and send the funds to yourself. Nothing is sent to this site.
Option 1 means the site sees the unlocked phrase and your address for a moment (never logged or stored). Option 2 avoids that.
If someone else solves it first
The prize goes to the first valid claim. If the hunt says Claimed when you finish, the prize is gone, but you still solved it. Hunts stay playable for fun.
No testnet wallet?
On the practice hunt you can send the prize back to the practice pool instead. It's still a real shielded transaction, just without a wallet of your own.
